    http://thehill.com/blogs/twitter-room/other-news/218849-house-republicans-add-pinterest-to-social-media-strategy

It's talking about how some Republicans have been using Pinterest. They're doing it so that they can post online content in a visual image. They're finding it useful over media like twitter because of that fact that there are actual pictures and videos right on their home page.

    1. I was going to use this same article LOL. I enjoyed reading this article. I agree that it is a good thing for House representatives to utilize social media networking sites because it gives the public some more insight on their political views as well as what they are like on a personal level as well.

  2. http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/how_pinterest_uses_your_content_without_violating.php

This article is about how Pinterest uses your content without violating copyright laws. It’s becoming a huge concern for creative bloggers like photographers or bloggers who blog on arts and crafts sites. The thing is that pinterest do not do anything when it comes to help protect copyright besides removing content when people ask. Like for example if you discover someone or anything new like a new painter it’s awful situation because you cannot find out that person name or their website, you will probably have to check the link to every ‘original’ pin and do research to make sure it’s the original. Future reference pinterest is developing a code for giving proper credit.

    1. I think that it is a great that Pinterest takes into consideration its users and copyright laws when it comes to their photos and other content. Not most social media networking sites do so. Great article!

Pinterest Strategies for Email Marketing and E-commerce

The article discussed ways to use Pinterest to promote your brand online. One way was by making a list of what pinboards would make sense for your company or brand. A wedding retailer might have a pinboard for dresses or decorating ideas. Nordstrom did this by creating a board for each category of merchandise, the products on that board linked directly to the product page on the Nordstrom site.
The other thing they mentioned was to run a pinterest contest.
    Examples:
Pin it to Win it - User creates a “Your Company Pinboard” and pins X amount of items to the board. Your company selects a winner based on the best board.
Most Repins – User creates a board and the winner is selected based on how many repins or likes they have.
Sweepstakes – Have a user repin a particular image and choose a random winner out of those who entered.
Some important advice was to think long-term, don’t just push products, share things that inspire and connect on a personal level. Show how your brand fits with the lifestyle of your target audience. Respond to comments and questions.

  4. http://www.thedrum.co.uk/opinion/2012/04/16/pinterest-social-media-saviour-or-security-failure

Pinterst has became the 3rd largest social platform in the world and how it has been prone to people becoming more innovative when it comes to attacks, such as malicious links to images that would redirect subscribers to other unwanted sites, and possibly putting subscribers in danger of sensitive info being leaked. Marketers are starting to use software called "black hat" which is used to create a farm of accounts on Pinterest and conduct messaging abuse and although it sounds good it really isn't. And, if terms of agreements are set up then the risk of scammers is less of a risk to the users of Pinterest.

  5. http://www.inc.com/hollis-thomases/what-pinterest-wont-tell-you.html

This articles talks about fair warnings among Pinterest users. First on skirting the copyright laws and the Skimlinks where it "looks at links users post to websites, determines if there is an affiliate program to which they can be linked, and appends a code that ensures Pinterest gets credit for (and data from) the referral. " It also discusses that the social network site might not be suitable for all businesses. Lastly, there are a lot people getting hooked on Pinterest, as seen in its growth of users, that there may be a price to pay such as decreased productivity.

This article is about people who are crafters are finding others who are of like mind to share their projects with. They also use Pinterest to keep up with celebrity crafters like Martha Stewart, and find deals on materials and tools. I chose this article because it made me think of my mom, and avid crafter of anything created out of paper. I'm trying to get her into it, she might meet others in her community that are into the same crafts she is.

  8. The major benefit of Pinterest is that it’s currently driving more traffic to web sites that Google+, Youtube, and LinkedIn combined.

It’s important to note that Pinterest has not yet rolled out brand pages — so there’s none of the visibility metrics you get with, say, a Facebook Page.

However, Pinterest does not discourage brands and is still in its early development stages. I recommend that you get comfortable with the platform as a user first, and then use that knowledge to work on your business presence.

One thing you can do now is use the site to get inspired: All that visual content will surely bring to mind ideas for marketing campaigns, photos, products, and other content. Sign up, browse around, and let the site help you brainstorm your own projects.

Reading this and thinking about what its saying I think this is just a heads up on how big Pinterest will get in the future. This week I read online that Pinterest is the fastest growing social network right now. A study shows that 32% of online shoppers have made a purchase based on what they've seen on Pinterest in the last couple of months.

This is a very interesting article. It briefly discusses pintrest and why it has become so popular in such short time. The main focus of this article is why will pinterest be more succesful than many other social media sites that have been here longer than it. "Visual focus is what speaks to our brains, in a way that others dont", this is very true because photos catch our attention not writing. Pinterest was able to make a site without words focused mainly on pictures that will slowly make a mark in our brains.

  10. http://www.cmswire.com/cms/customer-experience/pinterest-edges-closer-to-ecommerce-model-with-100-million-investment-round-015653.php

This article talks about how pinterest has surpassed it's expectations in the social networking world. They talk about how some people find this network to be a waste of time and is hard to navigate. I personally didn't know anything about Pinterest until this class. The site is a little difficult to navigate and they really isn't much explanation to what the boards can do to bust followers, etc. Now that I have been active on this site, everyday I have at least two- three followers which means they have similar style and thoughts to what has been repined. There will always be negative and positive pros and cons to any social networking sites, but it's 2012 and technology is not slowing down for anyone. I personally was shocked that Pinetrest has reached the $100 Million Dollar mark and is going to continue to push the boundaries of pinning. The next step I this is for them to use their site a a marketing tool for companies that would like to feature products and ads. Personally I am addicted.
