My personal background is graphic design and art direction. Here is a brief intro to my work , It is a summary of what I do :)
Ideas are indestructible. From a young age, I always had a different way of looking at the world around me. I would lie upside down and draw things around the house, and practice lettering, drawing on everything, including the underneath of my bed, sorry mom. I started to realize the power that letterforms could have. Many things that I love about design have lead me to my where I am today.
My research has lead me to incorporate tactile design into the work. I use our natural sense of touch, or want to touch interesting looking or textured designs. The idea of the potential of letterforms combined with “touch-friendly” graphics has built the foundation of my work on dimensional typography. With electronic design you will learn how to layout information using POWERFUL GRAPHICS, and develop strong and creative layouts.
Hi! This is Elaine Palma. I am an international student from Manila, Philippines and currently taking up Fashion Retailing. I have earned my Bachelor's degree in Management and Master's degree in Business Administration. I have been working for a major broadcasting television network since I graduated from business school and decided to shift to another industry which is fashion, that's why I'm here.
Hello Elaine. Welcome to the class! I look forward to working with you! With your education background, lots of the fun social media case studies will really help you utilize them for your own business adventures.
Well hello there! This is Arnis, Madame Noise is my alter ego and also the name of my blog. I haven't updated it in a while because life hasn't really let me. I'm a fashion merchandising student, I graduate in December, and my main focuses are Visual Merchandising, Fashion Writing, and Textiles. I am also an avid baker, so maybe we can have a bakeoff on week 11! I'm also married, and I'm probably a lot older than the other students. I think tweeting is for tweens, and I'm certain I'm too old for it. I'm always on Facebook because that's how I keep in touch with my brother in Costa Rica, my family in Puerto Rico, and my stepmom in New York. I am also the proud mom of a retarded weiner dog named Carmelo. Well that's me... I guess I'll be signing off now...
Hello Arnis and welcome. I look forward to the bake off! One piece of advice; walk into the social media aspects of the class with a business savvy, open-minded approach. The problem with Twitter is mostly the people you follow. Only follow people worth your time and business efforts. The rest, ehhhh, probably not worth your time reading about. Leave Facebook for rants and endless status updates about what people eat for lunch and their 500 cats, if you know what I mean. :) It can be used as a business tool, but mostly Facebook is becoming social boredom for many users.
