This article is predicting a rapid growth in 2013 for cloud computing as it becomes apart of mainstream technology. But as it is emerging so is the rise in hackers when it comes to the info that is being transferred online while utilizing the cloud computing technology throughout social media outlets. Also, that a lot of these hacker attacks are closely related to the social media. It also discusses that IBM suggests the possibilty of having more contractual agreements through service levels and limiting the amount of access that is given so that they can avoid hackers accessing confidential info.

This article is about self healing batteries that will repair themselves just in time before needing to be replaced or repaired. Researchers are looking to extend the useful life of batteries in mobile devices, notebooks, iPads and other several devices they've figured out a way for the battery to fix itself, probably without the user ever knowing there was a problem. It discusses how batteries are subjected to a sudden shock then how the battery cells can be damaged, resulting in a power killing short. By this point in time all you can do is get a new battery, but from preventing this problem coating the batteries with billions of microspheres filled with gooey gallium-indium. The key is that the spheres have been designed to break open when stressed (like when the device is dropped) or heated up (as when the battery shorts). Like for example a notebook battery can last about three years before degrading to a point where it needs to be replaced but with the new self healing batteries we might now be able to use our batteries up to ten years in our notebooks in other devices.

    1. I think that this isn't a bad idea (self healing batteries), especially with the advancement of technology when it comes to the new phones, tablets, and other devices that are being designed for the present and future. But, like others and most products nowadays I believe that it will have its minor defects or issues that will have to be perfected so they probably will go through plenty of trial and errors before everyone can reap the benefits. And, as far as the probability of battery life possibility being 10 years that's a definite plus!!

    Fujitsu Lifebook 2013
It’s a laptop, tablet, smart phone and camera in one. There’s no keyboard, instead there’s a tablet that you can use as a keyboard, drawing pad or detach it and use it separately. You can detach the camera and use as a digital camera. The laptop is a bit bulky but the design is an interesting concept. At first I didn’t think it made much sense. Tablets kind of replace the need to drag a laptop everywhere, and smart phones also have internet on the go. But instead having to buy all those things separately it simplifies it. And instead having to charge all those things separately you might be able to charge them all at once and simplifies synchronizing all your data to each device. There's alway people that are going to be loyal to other brands but if they're priced properly they could be a strong competitor.

  4. http://blogcritics.org/scitech/article/a-social-media-prediction-for-2013/

Social television currently refers to social media activity when related to a TV show, often in the context of watching a programme and discussing it on a social network and typically concurrent to its airing; Twitter hashtags make the most of this phenomenon so that viewers comment on, read about and communicate with each other regarding what they are watching live.
Viewers now hashtag programme names or acronyms as if it were second nature, for example #sherlock has been extremely popular during and after the Sunday evening series has been shown. However, more and more programmes are actively promoting a hashtag on screen, such as the BBC’s Dancing On Ice (#dancingonice) and Channel 4’s Celebrity Big Brother (#cbb), whilst in America, the USA network and Fox are increasingly displaying a show’s associated hashtag at the bottom right hand side of the screen right the way through the screening.
Popular as this social TV engagement is with many, there is a problem… you end up missing half of the show due to looking at your laptop, tablet or smartphone! So here’s where my prediction comes in.

Television manufacturers are already producing sets with internet applications built in, such as skype, the BBC iPlayer and other on-demand services, which allow users to watch and listen to TV content that they may have missed when it was aired live. Social network access is also available, particularly YouTube, but I believe it’s the seamless combination of social media and television with a split screen that is currently missing from the mainstream. The good news is that at least one electronics brand has announced an integrated social TV app but personally I feel it has been kept a little under the radar considering the number of people who enjoy conversing on social platforms every day.

I think this concept is big but I don’t believe it will be until sometime during 2013 that it will really catch on for interaction with TV programmes whilst they are being aired, whether that’s with other viewers or the shows themselves, such as Question Time (#bbcqt), which regularly reads out tweets. With the advent of what I would consider truly social TV I would expect interaction and conversations to soar, plus the opportunities for brands could increase rapidly. Imagine the possibilities in a couple of years - if you can see your social networks to the side of what you are viewing on television, think of the fusion that could be had between advertisements and those brands’ social profiles. Like, fan, comment and enter competitions instantly for complete interaction and amazing engagement – it’s a digital PR dream!
I’d love to hear how else you think these types of applications on TV sets could evolve and whether you agree that 2013 could be the year when television turns genuinely social.

    1. This article simply talks about maximizing the potential of social media and television as partners to serve not only its viewers but also the advertisers. The time will come when a single platform can "basket sell" media mileage and advertiser opportunities to brands. At the same time, viewers entertained via co-entertaiment using the social network and television programs. I believe this will come sooner than expected. Samsung is launching Social TV and in the market. It may not have taken off yet but soon, it could happen that TV entertainment would not only be a passing viewing activity but also an interactive one, and real time at that.

  5. The article I chose is technology related but not really social media related. I'm a fashion student, so I went straight for new tech news in the fashion world.

VIRTUAL FIT ME 3D AVATAR WILL BE INTRODUCED TO RETAILERS
    www.fibre2fashion.com/new/textiles-technology-news/usa/newsdetails.aspx?news_id=109569
For years shoppers have been waiting for a way to shop for clothes on line that removes the "will it fit me?" factor. There's been talk of a virtual shopping avatar system or program for years, but it had not come into fruition, until now.
Virtual FitMe is launching an avatar software program that can be used by consumers and companies alike. This avatar will provide online shoppers with a virtual version of themselves that can try on their clothes, shoes, and accessories for them.
Consumers will be able to input all body proportions, including waist, bust, height, body mass, body type, inseam, hips, and many other detailed measurements to make the avatar as close to the real person as possible. The software will also help determine what sizes are appropriate, what will fit, and how much will the garment give without tearing. The software hopes to eliminate returns and exchanges by giving consumers a better idea of how the clothes fit on their bodies.

Social events are the new way to advertise your companies according to this article. Big companies are launching parties with famous super stars and making it a big success. Obviousbly the funds are necessary but What i like about this is most companies are making parties relevant to brands and exciting people with experience .Some companies are using photo booths. This experience causes everyone else to talk about it and telling friends . I believe this is the best way to brand companies .Social media ,Scavenger hunts and live stream is what is helping all this information spread as well.
